Over the Chinese New Year holiday, I went to Nepal for a photographic exploration. “Namaste” (Na-ma-see-te), Hello in Nepali, is the most frequent word I used throughout the week.
I was quite unprepared for the trip and arrived in Kathmandu without knowing what to expect. Very soon, I realized that while there are a few sceneries (mostly with the Himalya as the backdrop) that would give any photographer a major adrenaline kick, it was the people that makes the place so attractive. It doesn’t take long for one to appreciate that although Nepal is not exactly a prosperous country (in fact it is one of the poorest country on earth), people are generally very happy and relax. I was totally enchanted by the friendliness and openness of the Nepali people.
While People Photography is not exactly my type of shooting (not very good at it at all), I simply couldn’t resist the temptation. For a change, I was doing something more than just landscape work.
